AWS Software Engineer (remote)
Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) is looking for a Principal AWS Software Engineer to support Raytheon Technologies EED (EOSDIS Evolution and Development) team based out of Riverdale, Maryland.
Remote/Full time telecommuting is available for this position.
Life with Raytheon Intelligence and SpaceIn this role, you will work with an amazing team of engineers, on the EED-3 program, that supports NASA in its mission to provide scientists and other users access to data from NASA's Earth science missions.
More specifically, you will be working with the Search and Discovery team, which provides a Common Metadata Repository (CMR) and associated tools that enable scientists to search through and access petabytes worth of Earth science data, spanning multiple decades.

As a Principal AWS Software Engineer and a member of the Search and Discovery team, you will help lead complex technical efforts that will enable scientists to better find the data they need.
Responsibilities and duties will include:
Take concepts and turn them into architecture diagrams and ticketsTake a proof of concept and turn it into an operational systemParticipate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation, through design, development, automated testing and operational supportContinually help the team grow by sharing new ideas and industry best practicesSuggest improvements to processes and tools to help the team be more efficientYou'll Bring These
Qualifications:
Typically candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a technical major, such as Computer Science or Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of related experience.
Experience with multiple functional programming languagesExperience leading complicated technical effortsExperience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)Experience in Agile / Scrum methodologiesExperience with to automated testing and continuous integrationExperience with software development life cycle (SDLC)It Would Be Great if You Also Had One or More of the following:
Experience with machine learningExperience with algorithm optimizationExperience with ElasticsearchExperience with Geographic information systems (GIS)Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo)Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) a plus.
Experience developing on MacOS X and deploying to Red Hat Enterprise LinuxExperience presenting at technical conferencesSecurity Clearance - The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.
