Software Systems Engineer
Overview:
Axient is seeking a motivated Software Systems Engineer with experience in enterprise software project management, product distribution, verification, and requirements analysis to join our team in NOAAs Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS)supporting the Environmental Satellite Processing and Distribution System.
ESPDS is a scalable enterprise product generation system within NESDIS Environmental Satellite Processing Center (ESPC).
Within the National Environmental Satellite Data Information Service (NESDIS), OSGS plans and executes common ground services for all NOAAs satellite, data, and information capabilities.
These services are critical to acquiring, processing, and managing, and archiving the environmental data from NOAAs and partners satellite missions, notably for the GOES-R and JPSS satellite systems.
These data feed the nations operational weather forecasting models and many other critical NOAA systems and are shared with agencies around the world.
Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will:
Assist in collaborative activities with ESPDS stakeholders and users to ensure commonality of objectives focusing on enterprise product distribution and access and in analysis and verification of system requirements.
Provide system engineering and project management support for tasks assigned to the ESPDS in support of GOES-R, JPSS, and other missions to be integrated into data processing segments of the OSGS Ground Enterprise.
Processing segments include satellite data ingest and pre-processing, product generation, product distribution and access, remote backup, and supporting communications infrastructure.
Facilitate the technical work carried out by integration and test, operations, security, and archive teams.
This work includes monitoring status, identifying and managing program risks, tracking performance, scheduling workflows, and reporting progress.
Qualifications:
5
years experience in project coordination and software systems engineering.
BA/BS or higher in computer science, engineering or related discipline is preferred.
Must meet applicable COVID safety requirements and protocols.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
