HIM Audit & Information Coordinator

The Auditing & Information Coordinator is responsible to provide customer service in coordinating health information requests for business associates, financial services, social services and other medical and legal entities.
Respond to requests promptly to ensure that the information is received appropriately, timely and accurately.
Retrieve medical records from a multi-medium system including paper, microfilm, microfiche and the Electronic Patient Record Systems.
Conduct qualitative reviews to ensure for the accuracy and completeness of the medical record.
Serve as a liaison with inpatient & outpatient departments to coordinate the timely delivery and centralization of the documentation in the HIM department.
Qualifications:
Minimum EducationAssociate's Degree Health Information Management (HIM) or currently enrolled in an accredited HIM program by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (Required)Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)Minimum Work Experience3 years Health Information Management experience with emphasis on computer systems and auditing skills (Required)3 years Prior Health Information Management experience with emphasis on computer systems and customer service or administrative/clerical support experience (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeProficient in filing and retrieval of medical records using terminal digits.
Must be able to lift 20 lbs weight and consistently lift 5 lbs, tolerate long periods of standing and/or walking.
Must be able to lift a 5 lbs medical record and bend in order to file and retrieve medical records.
Must be able to walk and push moderately heavy carts of records throughout the hospital.
Must possess excellent oral communication skills and exemplary customer service.
Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Must be able to work in a fully computerized environment.
Basic understanding of computer applications and working knowledge of Windows Applications and Microsoft Office.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Ability to problem-solve and perform in a process driven environment.
Computer keyboard proficiency Ability to distinguish colors and grades of paperAbility to sort alphabetically, sequentially by numbers, dates and types of documents.
Ability to use judgment when determining appropriateness of involvement of Physicians, Nursing Management and Unit Support Staff when searching for missing documentation or discovering procedural and technical failures.
Demonstrate understanding of the release of information process, including federal, state and organizational policies.
Required Licenses and CertificationsRegistered Health Information Technician (RHIT) (Required) OrRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) (Required)Functional AccountabilitiesHealth InformationHandle all requests and inquiries for patient information; schedule/disperse the information with accountability to business entities and regulatory agencies according to CNMC's policies and procedures and HIP AA confidentiality standards.
Coordinate patient information through caregivers, insurance companies, billing, clinical resource management and legal departments as well as other external auditors.
Make duplicate copies of patient documentation needed to provide services to patients, care-givers, or administrative use.
Customer ServiceGreet customer and staff cordially; receive complaints and compliments graciously and provide appropriate follow up; successful completion of CNMC's Customer Service Training Program.
Identify when supervisory assistance is required for problem resolution and proceed in a timely manner.
Assist internal and external auditor to access the electronic health record system and by providing support navigating the system.
Communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally , within the organization and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
Quality AssurancePerform quantitative and qualitative reviews of the documentation requested before final release to ensure record completeness.
Collaborate with the Data Integrity Specialist to identify and review complex cases requested by regulatory agencies.
Provide management monthly reports to identify volume and trends of external audits as well as the level of compliance with the corresponding regulations.
Chart/Document RetrievalUtilize electronic patient record systems to locate individual patient records and, sets of patient records, on an as-needed basis by the set-up and retrieval of workflow assignments, within 24 hours of routine request and immediately for STA T requests.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
