Summary About the Position:
The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) aims to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and US Army requirements and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology and medical material that sustain the combat effectiveness of the Warfighter.
Responsibilities Serve as the Institute Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Coordinator.
Serves as an animal use review administrator responsible for processing and maintaining research protocols and proposals.
Ensure compliance with Federal and Department of Defense regulations and guidelines for Animal Care and Use.
Coordinate annual data call for the Report to Congress on Animal Use in DoD Programs.
Serve as the Animal Care and Use Training Coordinator.
Maintain the Institutes animal use personnel training database.

The DJ-03 pay band is equivalent to the GS-11 Step 01 to GS-12 to Step 10 level.
In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within the pay band equivalent, may not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position.
Future pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (eg, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (eg, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing database and data entry procedures for animal protocol and proposal information; 2) coordinating data for annual compliance reports to regulatory and accrediting agencies; and 3) performing data input and retrieval to compile personnel training reports.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.
Add the two percentages.
